Thisarticledescribeshowamajorriskfactorinthedeploymentofpatienthealthrecordssystems in thecloudis thesecurityandprivacyofdata.Hybridcloudsolutionshavebeenproposedthat leverage the public and private cloud deployment tomanage and alleviate accessibility, access controlandprivacyconcerns.Thisarticlepresentsaprivacypreservingandsecurearchitecturefor dataacquisition,storage,processingandsharing.Theproposedarchitectureiscomposedofapublic cloud-basedservicesthatinteractwithalow-costcloudcomputingcluster(LoC4)asabackend.A lightweightdatasecurityeco-systembasedonattributebasedencryptionisdevelopedtoprovide securityforpubliccloud-baseddatastorage.Performanceofthedeploymentisevaluatedinarealtimedeploymentenvironment.TheresultsshowthattheproposedABE-basedsystemis2.3times fasterthanAES-basedforavarietyofsizesofdatablocks.Itisfurthernotedthatthelow-costand affordabilityofLoC4platformoffersexcellentopportunitiesforacademicresearchincloudbased healthinformatics.
